Welcome to GeekDas (geekdas.in). Your privacy is important to me. This Privacy Policy explains what information I collect, how I use it, how long I keep it, and the choices you have when you visit my website.

Summary

  • You do not need an account to use GeekDas.
  • Most tools run entirely in your browser. What you type into them is not sent to my servers.
  • I only receive personal information when you choose to send it, for example through the contact form or a bug report.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies are off until you opt in.

Information I Collect

Information you choose to send me

  • Contact form: your email address, an optional phone number, and your message.
  • Bug reports: the affected tool, your description, an optional email address, and any screenshots you attach. Please avoid including sensitive information in screenshots.
  • Article feedback: whether you found an article helpful.
  • Shareable polls and date invites: the questions, options, and messages you write. Anyone with the link can view them, so do not include private information. These are automatically expired after 90 days.

Information collected automatically

  • IP address: my server receives your IP address when you submit a bug report or article feedback, and I store it to limit spam and duplicate submissions. For polls and date invites I store only a one-way hash of the creator's IP address, never the address itself, for abuse prevention.
  • Article view counts: I count how many times each article is viewed. This count is not tied to you personally.
  • Analytics data: if you consent to analytics cookies, I collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited, time spent on pages, and general device and browser information.

Stored in your browser

  • Local Storage: your display preference (dark mode) and a marker recording which polls you have voted in, so you cannot vote twice from the same browser. This data stays on your device.
  • Cookie consent cookie: remembers your cookie choices for up to 12 months.

Tools That Run in Your Browser

Tools such as the image resizer, text and code formatters, converters, generators, and calculators process your input locally in your browser. That input, including files you select, is not uploaded to or stored on my servers.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

My website uses cookies grouped into three categories. You can change your choices at any time via the "Cookie Preferences" option in the footer.

  • Necessary Cookies: Essential for the website to function properly, including remembering your cookie choices. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics Cookies: Help me understand how visitors use my website through Google Analytics. These are only activated with your consent.
  • Marketing Cookies: Used to show advertisements through Google AdSense and measure their performance. Ads are only displayed, and advertising cookies only set, if you consent.

How I Use Information

  • To reply to messages and fix problems you report
  • To remember your display and cookie preferences
  • To prevent spam, abuse, and duplicate submissions
  • To understand website usage and improve my tools and content
  • To show advertising that helps fund the site, where you have consented

Third-Party Services

I use Google Tag Manager to manage analytics and marketing scripts. When you consent, it may load Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which collect data according to Google's Privacy Policy. I do not sell your personal data. I do not share it with third parties except the services described above and where required by law.

How Long I Keep Data

  • Polls and date invites: automatically expire 90 days after creation.
  • Contact messages and bug reports: kept for as long as needed to respond and resolve the issue, then deleted.
  • Cookie consent cookie: up to 12 months.

Your Choices and Rights

You can change your cookie choices at any time, clear your browser storage, or ask me to access, correct, or delete any personal information you have sent me (such as a contact message or bug report) by emailing privacy@geekdas.in. I will respond within a reasonable time.

Data Security

I take reasonable measures to protect the data I hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please do not send passwords or other highly sensitive information through the contact form or bug reports.

Children's Privacy

My website is not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided me with personal data, please contact me so I can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
